Hash House A Go Go is a lively, casual place.

The menu is equally down-home comfort food. The Brown Sugar Banana flapjack, creamy with ripe banana chunks and laced with caramelized sugar is just one specialty. Ask or an n omelet and you get the entire pan in which it was cooked delivered straight away to your table.

Lunch and dinner are fun, too. Entrees are gigantic. Try the Rack o' Lamb Stew, served with cornbread and goat cheese, in a cast-iron skillet. Breakfast and lunch might be everyday affordable to most, but dinner is a lot more pricey, with entrees falling into the $15-$25 range.

Phil's Barbeque
This Down Home style barbeque is Located in Mission Hills, but is so close to Hillcrest and such a great barbeque joint, that it just can't be missed.

Phil's barbeque has a sauce that is a little sweet, and tangy, but in all the right ways.

Ask for extra sauce, and your sandwich will be soaking so that you'll need a fork to eat it with.

There is plenty of room, with indoor and outdoor dining, but be sure to call ahead if you plan on eating during lunch hour, or you'll be staking out any available table. This place is a local's eatery as well, hence why it is very bustling anytime around lunch.
