Oceanside has some of the most amazing beaches. Its Harbor Beach, the largest one. It offers surfing, deep sea fishing, shopping and any type of other water fun activities one can think of. There is a pedestrian friendly strand that welcomes rollerblades, bicyclist and runners along its path.
Be sure not to miss the annual surf competitions and lifeguard competitions during the summer months. Another one of Oceanside's beaches is Breakwater way. You may not otherwise know this is a surfing only beach. Swimming and playing is not allowed. The high currents and tides are reason for this. For those of you looking for a more subdued, relaxing and sunbathing area, be sure to check out Pier View North, where the tides are a little lower. Pier view south has a lot to offer during the summer months too, as that is when they hold their annual bodysurfing, and body boarding competitions.
Pier View South. Tyson Street Beach offers the more family friends beaches with grassy area just adjacent, good for tossing the Frisbee or using showers or restrooms to clean off. And be sure not to miss Buccaneer Beach if you have kiddies. It has a jungle gym. Basketball courts and snack bar area.

The background for this "cool" museum would not be ft without the irony that it is built into and housed by what was once an old biker bar. The California Surf Museum highlights past trophy's memorabilia and nostalgia from current and past surf heroes. Take a look at some of the old wood longboards used to surf back from the 40's to current sleek short boards. If you surf, or want to know more about its lifestyle, be sure to visit this eclectic museum
