Fred's Mexican Cafe
While Fred's may be a local chain, with one in Pacific beach, and another in Downtown/Gaslamp, it still can't be beat for its casual and simple Mexican food and drink prices (including $3.00 Giant Margaritas). Fred's has great happy hours, and specials such as their Kiss My Taco Tuesday's with $1.50 tacos and drink specials all night long. Fred's is a great way to take in the pacific Beach area, and get some inexpensive, but tasty Mexican food.

Isola
At first look, Isola appears from the outside another bohemian meets casual 20 something's spot. This is what most spots on the strip that runs on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach are known for.
So it came as a pleasurable surprise to find a restaurant with such a niche fitting in perfectly if not serendipitously ones to the eclectic stores around it.While you may find the occasional casually dressed beachgoer at Isola, you are more likely to spark up a conversation with sipping one of the upscale down tempo 30 something sipping Isola's tasty white sangrias at the bar which sits directly in the center of the restaurant. Isola represents a laid back approach with a romantic and south beach style setting. The vibe you get when you enter feels like you are a guest at an exclusive party in the south beach, where patrons are sitting casually on white couches surrounded by candles. They all look up as you come in, and most of them smile. Isola, a Tapas bar serves everything from specialty items such as their rack of lamb Tapas, to spinach and mushroom Tapas for a vegan delight. You will find it a pleasant surprise when you're appetite is satiated by these small but delectable plates.

Moon doggies
Moondoggies, in Pacific beach, is probably some of the best people watching you can find in this bohemian, surfer community. The bar is located centrally between the indoor and outdoor seating of this restaurant. Be sure to bring your sunglasses, as the tables are strewn all around the outside patio, but have no reprieve from the direct sunlight. Not to worry too much though, being at the ocean, Pacific Beach usually gets a nice coastal breeze. The food and drinks are consistent, but most importantly, this bar and grill has the vibe just like its local neighbors: Fun, Young, Upbeat, and ready to have a good time. Be sure to stop in at Moondoggies, and be sure not to miss the nighttime crowd. but don't wait too long, otherwise you'll be sure to have a wait at the line to get into this place. (in the evening, a fire pit and heat lamps keep the crowd comfortable and warm, even in the winter, at this local eatery.

Pacific Beach Bar and Grill (AKA PB Bar & Grill)
Pacific Beach Bar and Grill (as the name is noted on the sign above the restaurant) is known by most San Diegan Locals as simply: PB Bar & Grill. This is probably one of the best spots in town for happy hour specials. They have all of their dishes and drinks ½ off every night beginning at 4. To make it even better, the majority of the bar is located outside, on a sort of terrace. PB bar and grill does open the back side of this bar to a club, so after 8 a dress code is enforced.
PB Bar & Grill fits their lifestyle the pacific beach is known for: Flip Flops, T-Shirts, bathing suits, and over all casual atmospheres. It's a great place to unwind after a day spent t the beach just a few blocks down after a day of surfing, kayaking, cruising, or just to grab a bite after lounging in the sun. PB Bar & Grill really is a locals spot as well as a tourist one. Be sure, to try their lobster tacos' or even their Ahi tuna dish. Good Stuff, great times.
